I Love to See the Temple

I walked into the house of my best friend from childhood to see her curling the hair of her 8-year-old daughter. I took their family pictures a couple months ago, and I already know that this session is going to be amazing. Sweet Laynie has the most stunning blue eyes that make me feel as if she is peering into my soul and knows my story. She has that sweet clarity within them, that only a new 8-year-old has. She's growing in her understanding of life, family, and who she is.

In a couple of weeks, she will be taking her first step on her personal covenant path back to our Father in Heaven. She has chosen to be baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It's a big step, but I can tell that she is ready for this part of her story.

There is something so sweet and pure about preparing for baptism. It's one of the first ways we can show that we are trying to be like Jesus. He did, after all, enter the waters of baptism himself. He who was perfect, without spot. Doesn't it seem fitting that we do the same? We are all spotted from the world, far from perfect, but we can be perfect in our efforts in trying to be like him. All He asks is for us to believe in Him, to follow Him. And I love that Laynie is doing that very thing! I'm so happy for her and can't wait to see where her journey takes her.
