Family Session at the White Rocks in Snow Canyon, Utah

Recipe for a Marvelous Family Photo Session:

1 Beautiful family that likes each other

1 Gorgeous location

1 Set of an incredible family wardrobe

1 Dash of perfect light just about an hour before the sun sets

Set ISO to 250, f-stop to 3.2, and shutter speed to no less than 1/250. Add some warmth to the white balance using the custom Kelvin setting and snap away. Maybe set a timer so you don't run overtime. You don't want to drive the family too crazy.

I think it's safe to say that I followed the recipe exactly and I'm very pleased with the result.

Truth be told, I'm still a bit abuzz after this session, but I think it has more to do with the family than simply pretty pictures.

I have had the opportunity to spend some time with this family and there is something really wonderful about them. They have a genuine love and liking for one another. I've seen the older siblings playing with the younger ones and laughing together. The youngest is well tended by her older sisters, and I have seen the look of a child who knows she's loved on her sweet face.

The first time we met the whole family, the boys included my boys in exploration and throwing rocks in a pond. They were welcoming. Kind. Open.

I simply loved being in their presence. There was such a goodness and warmth to their interactions that I wanted to keep enjoying it. I truly hope and pray that we can develop this type of spirit within my own family. I know that Ben and Janae are great parents and even better people. We have been blessed by them and I look forward to learning more from them and drinking from the fountain of their wisdom.
